Jaleo Wins World Cup

Well, the World Cup is over and Spain won a tight final. At the local level I think it is fair to say that Jaleo probably won the battle of Bethesda – lots of bars and restaurants did well but the fact that Spain rolled all the way to victory certainly drove attendances for the games at Jaleo. The atmosphere was super and Chef Andre should be very happy this morning!

Spain v Honduras

Spain v Honduras is the big World Cup soccer game today and there will be a lot of people looking for a comfortable spot to watch the Spaniards try to show why they are co-favorites to win this tournament. One super location to watch the game is Jaleo’s in downtown Bethesda. In addition to watching the game you can eat a host of delightful Spanish foods including some lovely cheeses, seafood and spanish tortilla.

Chef Andre has a World Cup special running that requires Spain to win so if you are there check it out and report back with the details!

Equinox Update

Equinox update

The Equinox building is coming along nicely, even in the rain!  I assume the scene behind that fairly innocuous looking chip board walling will be one of buzzing action, as a multitude of trades-folk create the state of the art interior that many are excited about.  If you’re one of those people, don’t miss their survey and a $10 Jaleo gift voucher!

Complete Equinox survey for $10 Jaleo gift card

Equinox

I received an email from Equinox Fitness today and being in eager anticipation of what this place has to offer, I decided to fill out the survey that came as the main focus of the message.  I tried to be as honest as I could – a 30-year-old man who really doesn’t work out as much as he should, and doesn’t join a gym based on the quality of the equipment but rather the cost and proximity to work and home.

Having reluctantly added my responses, I was delighted to find a $10 Jaleo gift card offered for completing the survey and firing off my personal details, which I thought seemed like a fair trade!  Subject to receiving the card, I’ll be heading to Jaleo very soon, and will be sure to let you all know how it goes.  That is, of course, assuming I don’t see you there too!

Bethesda Pre Theater Dinner Options

A member of our community asked for a pre-theater restaurant recommendation…..while a complete answer may take a while, some due diligence (aka sampling) and polling of the community, I wanted to give a shout out to Jaleo. Their pre-theater dinner menu is just delightful. Check it out here.

Feel free to suggest your favorite pre-theater dinner venue in the comments below. I’d also be interested to know what makes a restaurant a top pick in this specific category.
