Just thought I’d give a quick shout out to the newly open Jimmy John’s on Bethesda Ave. JJ’s sells, in their words, the ”World’s Greatest Gourmet Sandwiches” – we haven’t had a chance to check it out yet but would love to hear from folks who have made it over there. A little blurb on the new place and its history can be found here.
All doctors and patients will have been moved from Walter Reed in DC to Bethesda and Ft. Belvoir by tomorrow. Naturally this will have both immediate and long term real estate/ business ramifications for the impacted areas. In Bethesda we are already seeing a spike in housing demand (both rental and sales) and in time DC will see a large plot of land transformed. This article has some interesting details (more on the DC side) and it would be nice to get some feedback from our local Bethesda community regarding this transition. What are you noticing?
Friends,
Between travel and all sorts of technical issues it has been a long time since we were able to keep a regular schedule on the blog. For that we are sorry. Hopefully the tech problems are behind us and we can get back to building an online community that helps to strengthen the sense of community in Bethesda.
In the coming weeks we will be looking to feature the work of local Bethesda residents who are doing important, interesting and innovative work – in particular we want to share stories with the community that highlight our neighbors “charitable/good works.” So if you have any projects or people you would like us to profile please send an email to bethesdaactually@gmail.com
If you are likely to be offline until Tuesday we would like to take this moment to wish you a Happy 4th July!
Bethesda Magazine is promoting this weekend’s Carnival Day and Family Funwalk to benefit Bethesda Cares. Should be a fantastic event! More information here.
Out with the old and in with the new seems to be the way on Hampden Lane these days! We’ve mentioned this seemingly abandoned building several times to date on Bethesda Actually, but have never managed to find much information on it. Could it be a “phase two” to the new construction further up Hampden Lane, or is there perhaps a site office hiding in there somewhere? One thing’s for sure: it doesn’t look like it’s going to be turned back into a home/office any time soon…
Friends — check this out – $20 gets $40 at Sala Thai in Bethesda!!!!!
