Bubbles Doing Their Part to Address BP Oil Spill

It is always wonderful to see local companies doing their bit to support “good works” projects and causes. Today this terrific initiative by Bubbles was highlighted by a loyal customer:

Dear Valued Client,

As you are aware, the tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has a far-reaching impact on our environment and on the livelihoods of many families who live on the Gulf Coast.  In response to your comments on Facebook, Twitter and our website, we at Ratner Companies, home of Hair Cuttery, BUBBLES, Salon Cielo and ColorWorks, have responded immediately and are passionate about doing whatever we can to help clean up the spill and preserve our environment.

We have an unbelievable natural resource that can help: hair. We are partnering with Matter of Trust, a non-profit organization that uses hair clippings to make booms and mats that have been shown to effectively absorb the oil. A boom is a nylon stocking filled with hair and one large boom can soak up as much as five quarts of oil!

However we need to act fast. The oil is spreading quickly and we are committed to doing as much as possible to aid the clean-up efforts.

How can you help? Stop by any one of our BUBBLES salon locations with your family and friends and get a haircut.  We will then collect the hair and send it to Matter of Trust to be made into booms and hair mats.  Your hair will go from floor-to-shore in just days!
