Dropped into Raku for sushi on Saturday afternoon around 5pm. First time in a long time but I got the craving and will definitely be heading back soon! It was very busy, despite being post-lunch/pre-dinner, and the food was great. Nice staff, very helpful, professional and friendly. All in all 45 minutes well spent!
A week or so ago we mentioned Bistro Lazeez. Their website is not yet up and running, although we are assured it is “coming soon”. In the meantime here are some great reviews (on the whole – a few people were not so impressed, but for the most part feedback looks extremely positive).
Have you been to Bistro Lazeez? If so let us know what you thought!
This review is an interesting read — mostly positive and one negative:
We have a problem with the paper cone of french fries, however: They’re not hand-cut. Wiedmaier calls his use of a commercial product, from Simplot of Canada, “the hardest decision of my life.” But when a kitchen goes through as many fries as this one does – 1,350 pounds a week, says the chef – fresh is hard to do.
Kind of a bummer — I LOVE fresh french fries and will need to try these to see how they stack up to others in the area.
What do you think?

Things are really moving quickly over there — they have the boards covering the windows down and you can see the renovation work that has been done. It is starting to look like a super nice place.
We also saw that they will be recruiting more staff this week (perhaps Tues and Wednesday – but call to confirm) so if you need to find new work check it out.
Hope to bring you some pictures from the renovation later this week!
Yes folks — if it isn’t 100 degrees outside it is pouring with rain — welcome to summer 2010! Here is your Bethesda Actually top 5 options for “What to do on a Rainy (August) Thursday in Bethesda?”
1. Go to Union Jack’s and connect up with the folks from Bethesda Green who are holding their first Thursday happy hour.
2. Watch a film in town — there are some nice films of both the arts and mainstream variety on at the movies.
3. Enjoy Happy Hour at one of the many super places in town — perhaps get a drink and sweet potato fries at Cafe Deluxe.
4. Enjoy a quiet read at the local library….or pop into B&N to buy a book…then buy a sweet treat and read your new purchase in the cafe.
5. Support one of the new restaurants that have opened up this month — there are lots to choose from!
What are you planning?
