“Cut It For a Cause” at Bella Bethesda Salon!

Our friends at Bella Bethesda have a wonderful event coming up in time for Valentines Day!!

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, Bella Bethesda has its sights on sharing the love with those less fortunate and will kick off its “Cut It For a Cause” campaign on February 12. This year marks the fourth annual celebration of the week-long event to benefit Locks of Love. The salon welcomes those who are able to give at least 10 inches of hair, to visit the salon throughout the week to make their donation and in exchange receive a complimentary cut and blow dry. Those interested in helping a child in need, but aren’t yet ready to donate can still participate (and receive a free cut!) by visiting the salon to sign the pledge board and donate later this year.  The salon hopes to collect 250 inches of hair so every individual who can donate makes a difference!

Please get the word out and help support this wonderful event!!

Bethesda Green: Dec. 2 Happy Hour @ Redwood

Friends, looks like Bethesda Green have picked a super location for their first Thursday happy hour in December. The event will be held at Redwood (hurrah!) and should be a lot of fun. Here are the details:

Lighting the Way to a Greener Community!

Kick off the holiday season with an evening of casual conversation and networking with Bethesda Green and Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light. We’ll mark the second night of Hanukkah — the Jewish festival of lights — by sharing the extraordinary work local congregations are doing to save energy and go green.

Help raise funds for Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light, which helps local congregations of many traditions to save energy, go green, and respond to climate change. And support Bethesda Green as we enter our fourth year of lighting the way towards a local model for sustainable living.

* Meet Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light Director Joelle Novey, and learn from green team leaders in Bethesda’s diverse congregations
* Enjoy complimentary vegetarian appetizers
* Happy Hour drink specials

Contribution: $10 at the door will support the good work of Bethesda Green and Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light to light the way towards a greener community.

Redwood will also contribute 10% of sales.

Redwood features a seasonal menu rooted in American Tradition, showcasing mid-Atlantic ingredients, with organic and sustainable produce whenever possible.

Nuclear Power Conference in Bethesda

Just saw this — perhaps Bethesda Green will hold a meeting at the same time to discuss alternatives to Nuclear power?

Studio Neptune Bethesda

Friends, we just wanted to pass on some information on the wonderful working taking place at Studio Neptune in the Peripoint Building on Wilson Lane. Please find below a short write up from our friend Elyse describing the work she is leading at the Studio:

If you offer someone a place to be visually creative, then beauty, honesty, confidence, drama and humor will manifest through our most primitive language: art. For the past twenty years, Studio Neptune has welcomed highly artistic students into its vibrant fine art program. In this inclusive and inspiring environment, artistic potential is consistently revealed.

Through unique projects and quality materials, traditional artistic techniques are applied and practiced while original thought prevails. Our winter session of classes for children ages 6-14 begins November 29. Brand new classes for age 5 begin in January.

Two exciting classes for adults, Armchair Architect and Shoe Therapy are also offered in the winter months. Please visit us at
