Here’s an idea of what’s coming up in the next few months at Bethesda’s Imagination Stage. Check out their website for more info on shows, tickets and prices.
An interesting read regarding the challenges facing local galleries during the long summer. If you have time try and check out a couple of galleries this weekend.

It’s been an exciting time the last couple of weeks as World Cup fever has gripped soccer fans across the U.S. and more locally in Bethesda too, and with the U.S. through to the last 16 it doesn’t look to be abating any time soon!
But as life goes on outside the soccer bubble, I just wanted to remind you all that Five Finger Discount, a Variety Funk and New Swing outfit, are set to play Veterans Park this evening. 6 – 8pm at the corner of Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues

Local band Judge Smith is set to play in Veterans Park this evening as part of the Bethesda Summer Concerts series presented by our friends at Bethesda Urban Partnership. The schedule has changed up a bit since Raj first posted about it with Level 3 originally down to play. Should be a good evening at Veterans Park on the corner of Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues!
The line-up for the rest of June and July includes:
6/24 – Five Finger Discount
7/1 – Texas Chainsaw Horns
7/8 – Cathy Ponton King
7/15 – Muskrat Sally
7/22 – The Crimestoppers

This Saturday (June 12), at Norfolk Avenue & Veterans Park (between Fairmont & St. Elmo Avenues), Bethesda Urban Partnership will present Bethesda Artist Market, featuring fine art and craft from 25 local and regional artists. Free parking is available and live entertainment will be on throughout the day. More info here.
Just wanted to draw your attention to the annual Folk Festival taking place this weekend (June 5 and 6) down at Glenn Echo Park at 7300 MacArthur Blvd. The event takes place between 12-7pm and is completely free. I’ve been down there myself in previous years and it’s a terrific event! I definitely recommend checking it out.

The Bethesda arts scene is a lively affair with galleries and festivals springing up and taking place around town. Yesterday we managed to connect with a local artist who deserves to be a part of the scene. Keith Richard William has been drawing since he was a child and now spends his time sketching delightful pictures of the local community with, it seems, a focus on nature. He can often be found on the benches just past McCormick and Schmick’s in Bethesda where he is happy to show passers by his wonderful sketches. It is certainly worth your time to stop by and say hi to Keith and ask to see his work — it will bring a smile to your face.
Folks, Bethesda Actually did not attend but we still wanted to give you a flavor of the recent Montgomery’s Got Talent event (it is a collaboration between Montgomery County Recreation Department, MC’s Department of Health and Human Services and various other groups that support seniors. The idea is to celebrate “Older Americans Month in May”).
Here is the review from our friends at the Bethesda Gazette. And here is a little taster:
“With some of these acts, you get the feeling you are watching a musician at the peak of their talent,” said Bethesda resident Paul Wilson
So good to see the seniors out there embracing life and the chance to entertain — well done!
