Quick Update from our Friends at Patch re: Lot 31 Parking Construction

Seems there has been a delay until the start of Feb – link to the story is here.

The Majestic Bethesda!

Friends,

Just wanted to pass on the news that we are going to have a new Gastro Pub in Bethesda soon – The Majestic! It will be in the space once occupied by Gaffney’s (7141 Wisconsin Ave). Here is a little flavor of what is to come from owner Stefan Lalos:

Maybe like no place you’ve ever been… it’s Bethesda’s FIRST GastroPub! Comfortable. Friendly. Excellent food. Excellent drink. Excellent service. TV’s for news, sports and specifically Golf… booths and tables, a stage for some music a couple nights a week maybe, plus a big bar where you can come gather with your friends.

BCFM SUNDAY MARKET IS NOW OPEN YEAR ROUND!

Good news friends! The Bethesda Central Market is now open (starting this Sunday, January 8, 2012)! There are over 20 vendors ready for this weekend. Remember it is on the parking lot on Elm between Woodmont and Wisconsin. Make sure you pop on over if you can!

Macy’s / Bloomingdale’s closing

Just saw that one of the stores closing is the Bethesda/ Chevy Chase store.

Bethesda to Get a New Tea Shop!

Growing up in the UK, married to a South African and being of Indian origin it is fair to say thatI love a good cup of tea! So, it has got to count as good news that (a)  Capital Teas are opening a new tea shop on Bethesda Row (b) they will be serving tea by the cup at this shop. Our friends at Patch have the full story here but this clip was particularly interesting and worth raising a glass to:

“The new location will offer 120 varieties of loose tea. Significantly, it will also sell tea by the cup year round, plus iced tea and tea smoothies in the warmer months.”

One Bethesda Center Changes Hands

Just an FYI on a purchase of some significance:

“New York investor and real estate developer Bernard Spitzer has purchased One Bethesda Center, a Class A office and retail complex at 4800 Hampden Lane in Bethesda…..”

Fundraiser for Children’s Inn at NIH

Friends,

Just saw that the Bethesda Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA Bethesda) announced their next annual Gala in support of the Children’s Inn at NIH. The gala, it seems, is the largest fundraiser for the Inn.

For those of you not familiar with the Inn it is a privately funded hospitality house at NIH. Its mission is to provide a “home away from home” for their seriously ill young residents. Details of the annual fundraiser are as follows:

Date: April 14, 2012
Time:6:30 pm. – Midnight
Location: Ritz-Carlton Tyson’s Corner
1700 Tysons Boulevard
McLean, Va. 22102
More info can be found at www.childrensinngala.org/
