Action Committee for Transit Releases Candidate Questionnaire Answers
Candidate responses to the Action Committee for Transit’s have been posted on the web.  The full text of all responses can be read here.

The answers show that political support for transit is increasing rapidly, reflecting the strong public sentiment demonstrated in last April’s Washington Post poll.  ACT president Ben Ross pointed in particular to the overwhelming support for the planned light rail Purple Line and the growing majority of legislators who favor studying ACT’s transit alternative to widening I-270.

Message from Bethesda Central Farm Market RE: Manna

Just wanted to pass this along:

HELP MANNA FIND VOLUNTEERS!

Your group could help us staff part of a specific day or direct your folks to me to sign up for individual shifts. This is a very big undertaking and will require many people. You can have volunteers reach me at

Kim@mannafood.org or by phone at 301-424-1130.

Manna Food Center will be partnering with the 2010 Montgomery County Agricultural Fair August 13th thru 21st. Many volunteers are needed throughout the 9-day event to collect food donations at the fair entrance gates.

Please contact Manna if you, your business, sports team, high school youth group, social concerns committee or organization can help us find volunteers. We will need 4-6 people for each 2 hour shift between 10 am – 8 pm throughout the 9 days. We would love you to sign up for just one shift, a group of shifts, or to “own” a whole day and staff one gate for the full day – 2 – 3 people from 10AM – 8PM, in any timeframes that work for you. Wear your organization’s t-shirt and show how your organization is partnering with us and making a difference in our community.

SSL hours will be offered to students. Students 16 and over will need to attend a volunteer orientation and sign up for a 2 hour shift. Students under 16 must volunteer with an adult. Also, volunteers may enter the fair for Free at the end of their shift.

Bistro LaZee – Soft Opening

The new Med-Grill in “Old” Bethesda is open to the public this week for limited hours and with a limited menu – the management seems keen to ensure that the staff are trained up before a full launch. This is a smart move, too many restaurants stumble in the initial opening and this approach allows the Bistro team to work out any issues at a time when customers will be more understanding.

Your Bethesda Actually team will try and sample the Bistro fair this week and report back but if you get there first place leave a review below.

Storm in Bethesda/ DC Area Leaves Thousands Without Power

The powerful storm that rocked the Maryland/ DC area last night has left thousands without power.

Did you hear the storm? It was really loud — cracks of thunder that seemed to shake the area. For folks with young kids and/ or pets in must have been a tough night.

Bethesda Top Earning Town!

We’re number one! Well — according to CNNMoney we are! Here is a portion of the description:

Population: 56,763
Median Family Income (Per Year): $172,541
Median Home Price: $725,000

There’s a party for every season in this commuter town: Enjoy concerts and ice sculpting in the winter and Taste of Bethesda in October; schmooze with Pulitzer Prize winning authors at April’s literary festival; and enjoy the strains of delta blues, soul and swing in the summer

I’m glad they focus on more than our earning power — this is a super place to live and play! Check out the rest of the article here!

Earthquake in Montgomery County!

Somehow I missed the earthquake that literally rocked our area earlier today — while news reports suggest it was focused on the Germantown area I was talking to a real estate client who lives near NIH and was awoken by the tremors. Did you feel the quake?
