Lilit Cafe’s Holding Wine Tasting and Live Jazz Today

Friends, it looks as if Lilit Cafe will be hosting a free Wine Tasting and Live Jazz event this evening starting at about 530pm. The note I received from the cafe provides additional details including the following:

“Consume any wine on premises at retail price, no corkage fee added. Delightful menu available to complement the wines.”

Anyone planning on attending?

Brian at Equinox with An Update

Just wanted to share a portion of this update from Brian:

Hope all is well. I am excited to report that we are still on schedule for an opening date of later September. As I’m sure you have seen, construction is progressing on the building and late last week the power was connected and the exterior signage began going up. I know you can’t wait for the club to be open & we can’t either! Fall will be here before we all know it.

PAC Sun Special Offer (Montgomery Mall)

Friends, it is a bit outside of our normal coverage but for all you “Pac Sun” store fans I wanted to share news of a special event they are running on Saturday morning at Montgomery Mall. It seems that the first 50 folks through the doors at 10am will receive a free gift bag that will include some goodies. Check with the store for more details and let us know what you get if you do get in line!

Lilit Cafe: Wonderful Selection of Gluten Free Products

Last weekend we pulled together a few people to watch the Champions League Final between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich. One of  our friends can only drink Gluten free beer so we popped over to Lilit Cafe on Old Georgetown Road as we had heard they carried at least one gluten free beer option. Well, they actually carry three types of GF beer and a host of other GF products. The staff there are also very friendly — so we wanted to take a moment to thank them. Here are a few details on the Cafe:

Lilit Cafécarries some of Bethesda’s best gourmet traditions. Lilit Café  provides a grand cafe atmosphere with  Gluten free dishes and  the best wines and beer on hand, yours to take, by the bottle or by the glass.

Bethesda as a Restaurant Destination

Friends, as you know, here at Bethesda Actually, we are very excited by the crop of new restaurants that are opening up in the coming months. This piece from the Gazette does a nice job of connecting the dots between a few of them (Vapiano’s, Taylor Gourmet, Mussel Bar, Bistro Provence, American Tap Room and Food and Wine Co.)

Of course there are others on the horizon that could be included in such a list including the Med Cafe on Norfolk. No doubt, these are fun times for the casual Bethesda diner and local foodies alike!

An Artist Called Keith

The Bethesda arts scene is a lively affair with galleries and festivals springing up and taking place around town. Yesterday we managed to connect with a local artist who deserves to be a part of the scene. Keith Richard William has been drawing since he was a child and now spends his time sketching delightful pictures of the local community with, it seems, a focus on nature. He can often be found on the benches just past McCormick and Schmick’s in Bethesda where he is happy to show passers by his wonderful sketches. It is certainly worth your time to stop by and say hi to Keith and ask to see his work — it will bring a smile to your face.

American Tap Room

Hi folks, just a quick update on American Tap Room, which will be replacing Austin Grill in downtown Bethesda. While we reported on the switch a while ago we did not mention that the two establishments are sister restaurants. We still want to get a bit more info on the relationship between the two — do they share management/ marketing/ food strategies? The answers may give us a sense as to why the switch was made and what we can expect from American Tap Room when it opens in Bethesda.

Review of Montgomery’s Got Talent

Folks, Bethesda Actually did not attend but we still wanted to give you a flavor of the recent Montgomery’s Got Talent event (it is a collaboration between Montgomery County Recreation Department, MC’s Department of Health and Human Services and various other groups that support seniors. The idea is to celebrate  “Older Americans Month in May”).

Here is the review from our friends at the Bethesda Gazette. And here is a little taster:

“With some of these acts, you get the feeling you are watching a musician at the peak of their talent,” said Bethesda resident Paul Wilson

So good to see the seniors out there embracing life and the chance to entertain — well done!
